Lee Chertavian has extensive experience in starting and running financial services and technology companies. Most recently, he was the Chairman and CEO of Placemark Investments, a SaaS-based financial technology/ investment firm. Placemark was backed by several prominent venture firms including Flybridge, Ascent, North Hill and RBC Ventures.

Lee managed the growth of Placemark to nearly $16 billion in assets under management (AUM) from over 45,000 clients and led its successful sale to publicly traded Envestnet (NYSE:ENV).

Prior to Placemark, Lee was one of the earliest executives at Affiliated Managers Group (NYSE: AMG). Lee helped lead AMG’s growth from $1 billion in AUM over $92 billion in AUM during which time the firm also went public. Before AMG, Lee started several companies for privately held Trans National Group including a mutual fund company and credit card companies in Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. He served as a consultant for Bain and Company and held positions with Fidelity Investments, Bankers Trust Company and Equitable Life. He currently also serves on the board of New England Pension.

Lee has an MBA, with distinction (top 10% of class) from Harvard Business School and a BA, cum laude, from Bowdoin College. He and his wife reside in Sherborn, MA.
