August 7, 2012 – New York City, NY – DataGotham: The Empire of Data announces its inaugural event on September 13 and 14th at New York University. Co-founded by by Hilary Mason of bitly and Drew Conway from NYU, the event will bring together leaders from a broad array of industries across the NYC data community to share stories and ideas on the future of data science in New York City.
“One of the strengths of the NYC data science ecosystem is it goes far beyond just technology start-ups. From finance to media to fashion, entertainment, design, academia, and local government, data-driven businesses in NYC have created a unique community and culture,” said Hilary Mason, co-founder of DataGotham, Chief Scientist at bitly and co-founder of HackNY. “Our goal with this event is to enable individuals from all of these sectors to come together for the first time to share stories and ideas and be a part of defining NYC as a leader for the data science industry.”
